Description of process on the DFD

  1. AUTHENTICATION SUBSYSTEM

This subsystem is to deny access to unauthorized users to access the system. Through provision of passwords. These users involve customers and operation managers.

  1. CAR BOOKING SUBSYSTEM

This subsystem contains the Algorithms for managing the booking of cars. It communicates with the update available cars subsystem and stores its data to the booking records file.

  1. UPDATE AVAILABLE CARS SUBSYSTEM.

This process monitors the status of cars either booked on not and it stores its data in the car records file.

  1. GPS AND GPRS LOCATING SUBSYTEM.

This subsystem monitors, identifies and updates the (X,Y) location coordinates of the cars.

It also communicates with the GSM notification subsystem.

  1. GSM NOTIFICATION SUBSYSTEM.

This subsystem transmits messages to the administrator and the client about the condition of the car in form of GSM messages. It stores its information in the car records file.

  1. ENGINE TOGGLING SUBSYSTEM

This subsystem is accessed by the administrator. It communicates with the car entity through the changing of the engine state (either on or off).

  1. CAR REGISTRATION SUBSYSTEM.

This subsystem is responsible for registering new vehicles in to the system. This is done by the systems administrator. Its information is stored in car records.

  1. USER REGISTRATION SUBSYSTEM

This subsystem is responsible for the registration and editing of users into the system, therefore the authentication subsystem is dependent on this subsystem. Registering is also done by the operations manager who is the systems administrator. Its information is stored in the user files.

  1. CAR DETAILS ANALYSIS SUBSYSTEM

This subsystem is responsible for analyzing and filtering out information needed by the operations manager. Its stores its information inside the managerial files.

  1. REPORT GENERATION SUBSYSTEM.

This subsystem is close to the operations manager and its role is to sort and filter important reports that are to be presented to the operation managers.
